The most unusual venue of the 2027 World Cup is a new cricket stadium a short drive from one of the natural wonders of the world.
The fixtures
The Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium hosts four matches:
- 24 Oct: Zimbabwe v India (group stage)
- 28 Oct: India v Australia (Super 7, A1 v A2)
- 30 Oct: Pakistan v England (Super 7, A3 v AB4)
- 1 Nov: Australia v New Zealand (Super 7, A2 v B1)
All four are day matches starting at 10:00 AM local time (1:30 PM IST).
What's in the name?
Mosi-oa-Tunya is the local name for the falls and is usually translated as "the smoke that thunders", after the clouds of spray that rise from the gorge.
Prepare for heat
Late October is one of the hottest times of year in the Zambezi valley, with temperatures often in the mid-30s Celsius. Bring a hat, high-factor sunscreen and plenty of water, and expect the heat to test the players too.
Getting there
Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) has regional flights, including from Johannesburg (about 1 hour 45 minutes). The town is small, so book accommodation early, especially for the India matches.
Make a trip of it
The falls, the Zambezi and nearby national parks make this the most tempting cricket-and-holiday combination of the tournament. Read our travel guide and Victoria Falls venue guide.
